National Treasure: Book of Secrets is the sequel to the 2004 film "National Treasure". The sequel's plot revolves around the notion that Ben Gate's (Nicolas Cage) family is somewhat implicated in the greatest assassination in the history of the United States - the murder of Abraham Lincoln; and truth lies in the eighteen missing pages of the assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary supposedly containing secret information describing the assassination details as well as on a world-wide conspiracy.
In trying to clear his family's name, Ben gathers his team of fellow treasure hunters, historian Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) and the hilarious Riley Poole (Justin Bartha), who embark on a worldwide adventure that takes them from breaking into the Buckingham Palace in the pursuit of clues, to the stealing of a page from the esoteric Book of Secrets in the President's Oval office, and ultimately leads them to discovering one of the greatest hidden treasure mysteries of our time.

Korte inhoud: Schatzoeker Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) gaat op onderzoek naar de moord op voormalig president Abraham Lincoln door John Wilkes Booth. Hij heeft namelijk diens dagboek gevonden waarin 18 pagina's ontbreken. De moord blijkt samen te hangen met een complot dat ver over de grenzen van Amerika reikt. Samen met geschiedkundige Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) en grapjas Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) stort hij zich in het avontuur. De zoektocht leidt hen naar Buckingham Palace, waar ze inbreken om aanwijzingen te achterhalen. Ook in de Oval Office, de werkplaats van de Amerikaanse president, vinden ze informatie die van belang kan zijn in hun onderzoek. Uiteindelijk stuiten ze op een van de grootste verborgen schatten aller tijden...
